Who I Am

Donna Cromeans wrote her first short story at the age of six and hasn't stopped writing since.
She has spent over 20 years of her life dedicated to writing and exploring creativity. That journey has taken her through a wide variety of experiences.

A Lake Charles, Louisiana native, she has pursued her writing in various locales that include Beaumont, Kerrville, and San Antonio, Texas, Jackson and now Brandon, Mississippi where she currently works and resides.

In her career, she has worked as a newspaper editor, commercial and television promotions producer, radio announcer, ad copywriter, teacher, freelance writer, fund-raiser, screenwriter and public relations professional.

Her non-fiction articles and work have appeared both on air and in print at local, regional and national levels. She holds numerous awards including ones from the Mississippi Press Association, the International Association of Business Communicators and the Texas Press Association.

It is the art of screen and playwriting that has seen her most fiction writing success.  She wrote, produced and directed, "An Evening At Longwood," during the Christmas Pilgrimage at Longwood Plantation in Natchez, Mississippi. Over 4,000 attended performances during its month long run at the Natchez landmark.

Her first script for television, for "Star Trek: The Next Generation," earned her an invitation to Hollywood to pitch other ideas to the show. With former writing partner Toni Marberry, she subsequently sold a story idea to "Star Trek,” which resulted in the episode entitled "The Next Phase."

"0 Dark 30," her latest screenplay, is now being considered by producers in Los Angeles.

Her greatest passion however is writing romantic fiction. She is a two-time Golden Triangle Writer's Guild contest award winner, once for "Best Romantic Novel" and another for "Best Synopsis".  She was an active member of the
Golden Triangle Writer's Guild; the Kerrville Writer's Association; was President and conference coordinator of the Mississippi Writer's Club. She is a member and currently active with Romance Writers of America®, and is a past-president, VP of Communications and webmaster for the Magnolia State Romance Writers. She has just been elected President-Elect of the 2012-2013 board year of Magnolia State Romance Writers.

Always ready to help and encourage others to write, she is an active contest judge and has taught creative writing and public affairs for missions of the Mississippi Student Space Station project.
